The NAVMAN Vehicle Tracking and Fleet Management Solution provides the Customer with real-time and historic information about a vehicle’s location and activity, 24x7. This information is made available to any authorised user with internet access.

Features provided by the Solution include:

Standard Vehicle Tracking

• time stamped summary list of the fleet’s location
• snapshot of vehicle locations on map
• ability to instantaneously poll vehicle’s location and activity at any time
• automated time and distance vehicle location updates (intervals set by customer)
• additional event-triggered automated location updates (geofence, battery, etc.)
• full vehicle activity display in a mouse-click
• ability to fence areas (“geofences”) to trigger alerts (PC, email or sms text) for entry to and/or exit from these areas
• ability to determine areas (“sites”) and report on all activity within these areas
• powerful map search & zoom levels
• ability to determine the nearest vehicles to a requested location in a mouse-click
• ability to access historical data and replay a vehicle’s journey on background map at any time
• ability to easily generate powerful management reports such as site, mileage, activity, stop, trip, overspeed, idle and other event-type reports
• ability to make the application available to as many users and locations as required


Optional Functionality
The solution has a modular design. Based on the standard vehicle tracking solution, several other solutions are available for added functionality. These solutions are independent from one another so customers can select and scale the solution according to their needs.

Mobile Communication
Two-way text messaging from the OnlineAVL application to the vehicle, and vice-versa
• Dispatch complete job details, directions and messages
• Allow fast replies via prepared responses and variable fields from the vehicle (e.g. Job accepted *20* minutes away)
• Enjoy incredibly low-cost messaging. Communicate with your field staff at less cost then a phone call or SMS to a mobile phone

• Receive automatic confirmation that messages have been received, ensuring jobs don’t get lost

Mobile Communication & Navigation
Fully integrated system, combining two-way text messaging and GPS navigation technology.

Telemetry Monitoring
Remote monitoring and control of vehicle devices, such as:
• Temperature alerting for refrigerated freight (too hot / too cold)
• Weight recording for waste or haulage trucks
• Time and location of doors open for buses
• Time and location of hydraulic loading ramps in use
• Sweeper arms in operation for street cleaners
• RFID time and location recording
• Brakes on/off
• Auxiliary motor on/off
• Panic Alarms (remote and in-vehicle)
• Remote door locking and unlocking
Alerts and reports can be generated on individual monitored device.

Other
• PDA and barcode scanner for capture of additional information and proof of delivery
• Published Interface to allow integration to back-end applications in the office
• PPP Interface to enable wireless internet connection via the tracking unit for information transmission for devices such as PDAs.


Optional Devices-Related Features

The components that make up the Solution include the following:
OnlineAVL Software: OnlineAVL is a software application used to access vehicle information in real-time. OnlineAVL is accessed by users through a secure logon username and password. Information about vehicles, such as street location, is stored in the OnlineAVL database managed by Navman. Users with internet access can log into the Online AVL software application to view vehicle information and map.

Hardware Device & Accessories: The hardware tracking device is a Halo Qube. Each vehicle will require a Halo Qube device to be fitted. Navman will provide the devices and any associated accessories. Each Halo Qube device contains a cellphone module which allows the device to operate on Telecom’s or Vodaphone’s Mobile Networks.

Note: Optional devices available for purchase include the MDT-860, M-Nav and ConEx hardware devices.

Installation of the Vehicle Units: MCS Digital RT will be responsible for installing devices into the vehicles.

Geographic Positioning System: The Halo Qube device includes a GPS receiver, which generates the vehicle location based on its ability to view up to 12 satellites. Using this information, the device tracks the position, speed and direction of the vehicle in real-time. Access to satellites via the GPS receiver is provided by Navman.


Network connectivity for each Halo Qube device installed: A mobile data plan applies to an individual Halo Qube device. Once connected and subject to network coverage availability, the Halo Qube device communicates events (such as speed and direction of the vehicle) via Packet Data through to the OnlineAVL software application. In the event the device is situated in an area without network coverage, the device will communicate events when it next enters an area with network coverage.
